North Carolina “legacy” running back Caleb Hood has officially entered the NCAA transfer portal as he concludes his fourth season with the Tar Heels. His father, Errol, also was recruited by Mack Brown and played for UNC from 1998-2001. Hood’s decision comes as he looks to explore new opportunities to finish out his college eligibility at another program. Throughout his time at UNC, he showcased his potential as a versatile player, contributing significantly to the team’s offense. His power and vision will be missed, but with Mack Brown now gone from UNC, Caleb’s departure was more evident. He now adds to the growing list of athletes utilizing the transfer portal, which has become a common pathway for players seeking better fits or more playing time.
As the transfer portal opens for the 2024-25 season, Hood joins a wave of players looking to make changes ahead of the upcoming year. The transfer portal allows athletes a chance to find new homes and continue their careers, especially as college football teams undergo roster adjustments. Hood’s next destination remains uncertain, but his experience and skills could attract interest from various programs looking to bolster their running back depth for the next season.
We certainly wish Caleb and his family all the best!
