Our Founder & CEO’s grandfather Jim Woods was a huge golf fan , especially when it came to Charlie Sifford (trailblazer who changed the landscape of professional golf, becoming the first African American to earn a PGA Tour card in 1961. Born on June 2, 1922, in Charlotte, North Carolina, he faced the harsh realities of segregation and discrimination from an early age. Despite these challenges, he developed a passion for golf, honing his skills at local courses and eventually turning professional), Calvin Pete (a ground-breaking African American, Peete did not take up golf until he was in his 20s, but he quickly excelled, showcasing a natural ability that would lead him to become one of the top players on the PGA Tour. He achieved a remarkable level of success, winning 12 PGA Tour titles between 1977 and 1986. His most notable victory came at the 1985 Players Championship, where he showcased his incredible skill and composure under pressure), and Chi Chi Rodriguez (Juan “Chi Chi” Rodriguez was a beloved figure in the world of golf, known for his vibrant personality, exceptional talent, and commitment to giving back to the community).
Born on August 23, 1935, in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, Chi Chi’s journey began from humble beginnings to golf legend. Over a 21-year career on the PGA Tour, he won eight tournaments, with memorable victories that showcased his incredible skill and flair.
