Jordan Travis, The Former Florida State University Quarterback, Suddenly Retires

Jordan Travis, former Florida State University (FSU) quarterback and 2024 fifth-round NFL Draft pick by the New York Jets, has announced his retirement from football due to a severe leg injury sustained during a college game on November 18, 2023. Despite intensive rehabilitation efforts, medical professionals advised him to end his playing career. Travis was selected by the Jets in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft but was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list in August 2024 and did not play during the 2024 season. He has officially retired from professional football on April 30, 2025.

During his college career, Travis was a standout quarterback for FSU, leading the Seminoles to an undefeated regular season start in 2023. He holds multiple school records, including total offense (10,665 yards), passing touchdowns (65), and quarterback rushing touchdowns (31). Travis was named ACC Player of the Year in 2023 and finished fifth in Heisman Trophy voting that same year.

The New York Jets organization expressed support for Travis, acknowledging his dedication and contributions. Jets General Manager Darren Mougey conveyed the team’s regret over his early retirement and offered full backing.

“On November 18, 2023, my life took an unexpected turn,” said Travis, who will be placed on the reserve/retired list, in a statement. “I gave everything I had to the rehab process but despite all my efforts, my leg never responded the way we hoped. After much prayer and consultation with the doctors, medical experts and my agent, I’ve been medically advised to retire from the game I love so deeply.”

Sad day here at Packed House Sports. Travis’s retirement marks the end of a promising on-field football career, his legacy at FSU will always spark a smile. We trust his forward-looking potential in the football community (as a coach, scout, or media personality) will remain significant. We wish him all the best.
