LAS VEGAS – The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) is mourning the untimely passing of Ben Christman, a 21-year old who graduated from the University of Kentucky in December, and a recent transfer to the university and member of the Rebels football team. Christman was found deceased in his off-campus apartment on Tuesday morning.

UNLV has informed his family and the football team, and mental health support services are being offered to those affected by the loss. The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the cause of death at a later time.
UNLV President Keith E. Whitfield expressed his sorrow, offering condolences to Christman’s family and loved ones, stating, “My heart breaks for all who knew and loved him.”
Athletics Director Erick Harper also shared his sadness, noting Christman had made a meaningful impact on his teammates and coaches in his short time at the university.
Head Football Coach Dan Mullen remembered Christman as a leader, highlighting his quick bond with teammates. “Ben made the Rebels a better program,” Mullen said, offering his prayers to his family.
The UNLV and Kentucky communities grieve the loss of a promising young athlete, and support services remain available to those in need, per UNLV.
