The 2024 NBA Cup, also known as the Emirates NBA Cup, has proven to be a thrilling addition to the league’s calendar, providing high-stakes action early in the season. This multi-stage tournament, now in its second year, features all 30 NBA teams, with each playing four group-stage games that contribute to both the Cup standings and the regular season. What makes the tournament even more exciting is that, aside from the championship game, all knockout-round games also count towards regular season records.

This year’s tournament culminates in a championship game at the T-Mobile Arena on the Las Vegas Strip, which will showcase two new teams in 2024 (with the red dotted circles above): the Milwaukee Bucks and the Oklahoma City Thunder. The defending champions, the Los Angeles Lakers, were unexpectedly eliminated in the group stage, as were the Indiana Pacers, adding an element of unpredictability to the competition. With new contenders emerging, the 2024 NBA Cup has successfully elevated the excitement of the early season, giving fans a fresh and competitive atmosphere as teams vie for the coveted title.
