The Detroit Lions’ strong 5-1 start to the 2024 season has been slightly dampened by a two-game suspension for wide receiver Jameson Williams. The NFL handed down the punishment for violating its Performance-Enhancing Substances policy, marking Williams’ second suspension in his young career.
Williams, who is having a breakout year, has decided not to appeal the suspension. He’s currently second on the team in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns, trailing only Amon-Ra St. Brown. His big-play ability has been particularly notable, as he ranks second in the NFL with 21.2 yards per reception and is tied for the league lead with three catches of 50+ yards.
The Lions will have to manage without Williams’ explosive playmaking for their upcoming games against the Tennessee Titans and Green Bay Packers in Weeks 8 and 9 respectively. Despite this setback, Williams remains optimistic about rejoining his teammates as soon as possible.
